Striving for excellence and openness in science communication and public engagement
Scicomm and social sciences
As part of my final year of my Msc I have conducted research to better my understanding on how public engagement with environmental science (specifically climate change research) can use, and benefit from interdisciplinary work with social sciences including neurology.

As part of this investigation I've had the excellent opportunity to create some "In conversation with" podcast interviews with academics working in the field of public engagement with environmental science, you can listen to these below.
In conversation with Dr Kris De Meyer .

Dr Kris De Meyer is a neurologist based at Kings College London, whose recent work has been specialising in audience agency and behaviour change when engaging with climate change research.
Kris talks to Hannah about how our brains understand and interpret evidence, how behaviour change to benefit the natural environment may be more tricky than we might think, and explains how our brains are like an elephant and a rider.

In conversation with Dr Naomi Millner.
Dr Naomi Millner is a human geographer based at the University of Bristol whose interdisciplinary research focuses on human interaction with the environment, specialising in South America.

Naomi talks to Hannah about human geography as an area of social science, her recent projects including work in Colombia, and how drones are helping small communities take back control of their local areas.

In conversation with Dr Angela Mae Minas.

Dr Angela Mae Minas is a social scientist based at The University of Manchester, and part of the team working at the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST). Angela's work focuses on climate action and low carbon solutions.
Angela speaks to Hannah about her work at CAST, and how social sciences are integral to behaviour change to benefit the natural environment.
