Museums, apart from formal education, are some of the first experiences with environmental science information (and associated research) that may of us may have. Institutions such as The Natural History Museum and Science Museum Group are well known for engaging public audiences in these areas, but do public engagement professionals and those wishing to communicate environmental science research utilise them to their fullest?

Science communication and the sustainable development goals.
The links between science communication, public engagement and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is an area which doesn't always receive the attention it deserves, but are vital if society wishes to work towards a better future.
​
The SDGs are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Not all 17 goals seem to be linked to climate change and environmental science research, but they all work in an interdisciplinary manner to achieve prosperity.
